PROJECT: RELOCATION
OF THE PIRAEUS GRAIN TERMINAL
The new terminal will have to meet the current requirements of the Organisation of the Port of Piraeus (OLP) based on the available information with regards to its present use as a means of transportation. In addition, the design will have to allow for future expansion of the port and further development of the storage areas and the services provided. The most up to date technology in relation to storage and transportation of Cereals, has been used for the design of the new Terminal. The aim was to take full advantage of the limited potential of the available space and also to minimize any negative impact on the environment and on the current operations of the Organisation (OLP). The environmental study had to take into account the dust and noise emitted by such facilities as well as the sensitive issues relating to fumigation for dis-insection (removal of insects) from the grain products, especially when the terminal is closely situated to urban areas. |
