STARTING – COMPLETION DATE: 01/2001 – 06/2003

The project involved the study of the marine infrastructure works for a ship-lift system for submarines as well as the foundation design of the onshore infrastructure for the submarine construction. The geotechnical works that the project included were:

• Foundation Design of the ship-lift system with steel piles.
• Bearing capacity analysis of the steel piles in the ship-lift system area.
• Execution and evaluation of thirteen (13) boreholes in the onshore infrastructure area.
• Design of soil improvement for the land establishments using the dynamic compaction method and micropiles.
• Foundation design of the steel buildings used to repair, assembly and paint the submarines, office buildings, etc as well as of the outdoor area where the submarines move.
• Design of piers for the building establishments
• Bearing capacity analysis of the piers.
