ROCKFALL STUDY OF NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL SLOPES AND ROAD IMPROVEMENT
OF THE NEW EPIDAVROS – KALLONI JUNCTION (NEW ROAD PLANNING)

GEOTECHNICAL WORKS BUDGET : 183.000

CLIENT: PREFECTURE OF PIRAEUS

STARTING – COMPLETION DATE: 3/2004 – 6/2004

The project includes detailed geological studies and geotechnical surveys of natural and artificial slopes. The above were carried out along the 9,8 new road planning of Epidavros – Kalloni Junction, as well as along the existing section, for the assessment of the optimum protection and support measures of the extended and steep rocky slopes. In order to achieve the scope listed above, studies of pre-stressed anchors, rock barriers and rock trenches were carried out. In a section of the road of 180m length the construction of a cut and cover tunnel was necessary due to the steep slopes.
Tender documents were prepared, in order for the Prefecture of Piraeus to proceed with the construction works. The project with a total budget of protection measures reaching 10,3000,000 € was finally constructed by the J/V ENTECHNOS S.A. – ANASTILOTIKI S.A
