Oil receiving facility built at the Moldovan section of
the Danube river that also includes a tankfarm a truck and train loading
facility, administration building, warehouse, workshop and maintenance
facilities etc. The facility can receive tankers of up to 10.000 DWTs and has a
storage capacity of 100.000t for various oil products, making it the largest of
its kind along the Danube river. The marine works included land reclamation and
dredging, stabilization and protection of the river banks, the construction of
an oil unloading steel platform on piles, administrative building warehouse,
workshops, substation port control building, supply and installation of
electrical, piping and safety systems, the pollution control, the fire fighting
works etc. The Terminal's owners is the joint venture / joint stock company
Terminal S.A., stockholders of which are Greek & Moldovan enterprises and EBRD.
The project has been partly financed by EBRD in the form of equity and loans
with the balance covered by the stockholders.
Triton has been involved in the project as both the chief designer of the marine works and as a member of the investor's team. In the latter capacity TRITON undertook the coordination of the overall design of the onshore facilities and participated in drafting the B.O.T legal framework and contract agreements with the Joint Stock Company and EBRD, who partially funded the project’s construction.
Since 1999 TRITON was involved in the construction management team for the marine and coastal works of the facility on behalf of the “Terminal S.A.” the company set up by the shareholders to operate the facility.
