INSTALLATION OF GOLIATH-GANTRY CRANE
AT No5 PERMANENT DRY DOCK OF HELLENIC SHIPYARDS

CLIENT : HELLENIC SHIPYARDS S.A.

PROJECT BUDGET 4.940.000 €

Foundation design of the beams and rails of the new gantry crane GOLIATH of a total lifting capacity of 300t. The new crane rails are situated parallel to the axis of No5 Permanent Dry Dock of the Hellenic Shipyards with a distance between them of 101m. The combination of such magnitude of width with such a lifting capacity renders this project one of the heaviest in Europe. Foundation of the crane rail beams is envisaged by use of concrete piles 1,20m in diameter, placed in axial distances of 4,0m while the foundation beam was designed as a continuous pile cap 1,60m high, 1,40m wide with joints every 40m. The total length of the two pile groups reaches 490m. The design included all relevant installations, the transverse channels and the electromechanical conduits beneath the beam, the enchain and parking crane systems etc.
