NEW NATIONAL ROAD TRIPOLI - KALAMATA
DESIGN BUDGET : US$ 8 million
CLIENT : MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT PLANNING AND PUBLIC WORKS
Design
of the Tripoli-Kalamata Motor way between Paradissia and Tsakona including geological and
geotechnical investigations along the axis of the road.
The design involved high embankments and deep trenches along the mountainous routing of
the motor way in this area. Particular problems encountered included slope stability of
embankments and trenches over 40m high, and an elaborate drainage system to handle the
large quantities of high pressure spring water present in the area. |
