PAHI BAY CRUDE OIL UNLOADING TERMINAL
CONSTRUCTION COST: US$ 10 M
CLIENT: HELLENIC ASPROPYRGOS REFINERY
YEAR: 1988
Reconstruction of the damaged Pahi Bay Crude Unloading
Terminal. The project involved the reconstruction of the crude unloading terminal at Pahi
Bay, with a capacity to handle tankers in excess of 500,000 DWT. The terminal consisted of
a steel platform on steel piles for the unloading of crude oil and a four monopile
fendering system.
The facility was completely destroyed after a 150,000 DWT tanker struck it in 1987. TRITON
was heavily involved with the initial design of the facility and had the total design
responsibility for the reconstruction. Furthermore the firm was responsible for the total
supervision and co-ordination control for the entire reconstruction of the
facility, including salvage works for reclaiming reusable materials from the sea
bottom. The project was completed and
commissioned under the company's control in a record time of one year.
