Preliminary, basic and detail Design for the «New Tripoli Port at Tajura, Libya», together with the development of the adjacent land areas, 15 km to the east of the city of Libya’s capital, Tripoli. The port will provide sheltering and relevant service facilities for a total number of 542 vessels. The study relates to the following works:
• External port structures that include two rubble mound breakwaters (main 1500m long and secondary 355m long).
• Internal port structures, i.e. four piers and quay walls of 2270m approx. alongside the port basin’s
perimeter. The quay walls and piers have been designed as gravity type structures of pre-cast concrete block columns to accommodate vessels up to 80m long.
• Port installations and equipment comprise of two ship lift facilities (2 travel lifts 50 and 350 tons), a launching ramp and a fueling dock.
• In the landside area of the port, administrative, operational and service facilities are designed, as necessary for the operation of the port.
• Design tools used include the mathematical module MIKE 21 PMS (Parabolic Mild Slope) and LARIX 5S by Qubus.
