Project:Design of a multi - modal facility (Ro –Ro and Ra –Ra Terminal)

The port of Igoumenitsa is the major port in NW Greece providing access for 5 Balcan Countries (Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Turkey) via the Greek highway system to major ports in Italy and to the rest of Europe and vice versa. The project consists of land reclamation and dredging, construction of new caisson-type quaywalls for Ro-Ro and eventual Ra-Ra ships; supply and installation of electrical and piped services to quays and buildings; the administration building incl. an international passenger terminal, gatehouses, customs control, transit sheds, substations, port ancillary buildings etc paving areas, roadways, landscaping and security fencing; highway access to the national roadway and railway network; construction of drainage, sewerage and fresh water supply piping systems. Services provided include:
• Preparation of Port Masterplan
• Detailed Design and Tender Documents
• Project Management during implementation including among others :
a. Monitoring of the Project using advanced project management methods and software
b. Analyzing alternative scenarios, identifying and recommending solutions to problems, which may cause delays in the progress of the project
c. Providing technical assistance to the contracting authority in carrying out quality control and the overall quality planning
d. Checking Contractor’s invoices, variation orders, adequacy of equipment and safety measures

Through an additional supplemental contract the company has also undertaken the design and supervision of the enlargement and deepening of the harbour’s navigation channel Services provided include a chart survey of the channel, detailed geotechnical investigation, design of a marker buoy system, development of the navigation traffic control system etc. Total dredging volume to be tendered is expected to be 500.000 m3 within a 3 years time frame.
