SALAMINA - PERAMA UNDERWATER
TUNNEL AND APPROACH ROAD NETWORK
DESIGN BUDGET : US$ 40 Million
CLIENT : MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT PLANNING AND PUBLIC WORKS
The
design was carried out in collaboration with HELLENCONSULT. TRITON was heavily involved in
carrying out the geotechnical investigations both onshore in the Perama and Salamina
coastal areas and offshore along the axis of the underwater road tunnel. Stability
analysis and alternative methods of improvement of the soft alluvial seabed deposits were
studied. Geological investigations, rock slope analysis and detailed cross section design
of all coastal approaches to the tunnel including the motor way were carried out for both
Perama and Salamina coastal areas.
Finally foundation parameters were established both for the underwater tunnel and all the
bridges, retaining walls and related works all along the road approach network.
